Madeline Johnson is a biologist and visual artist working from Stillwater MN. Her series of small paintings delicately explore the variations of color and subtle fluorescence of her medium: E. coli bacteria. Grown like small gardens, her cultures are installed with great care, and tended lovingly. Her recent sculptures reference the exotic danger and high cost of fashion.
